Congregations.God calls on God’s people to make disciples. Congregational Development is the development of congregations of all sizes and locations into more faithful, healthy and effective communities of faith who are making a relevant difference in their communities. This may include new faith expressions that create new places for new people and/or the renewal and revitalizing of faith communities.

By being relevant and vital, United Methodists will touch more lives and draw more people to Christ. The focus isn’t church growth, but rather reaching more people with the good news of the Gospel, growing more people as gifted and called disciples of Jesus, and sending more people into the world to love and serve God and their neighbors in all they do. We provide tools, resources, workshops, events and training to help leaders and congregations more effectively make disciples for the transformation of the world.
Missional Action PlanningMissional Action Planning (MAP) is a mindset and a process to enable 100 percent of our congregations to become 100 percent vital and thriving. It is a collaborative process of discernment, prioritization and stewardship as we, together, seek to love God and neighbor and live out the Great Commission.

Vitality PathwaysTo help you get from your current reality to God’s place of vitality, we have designed 3 Congregational Pathways. While each of them are different, each has a similar goal; to help you discern and implement your next faithful step.

Building Beloved CommunityA people of faith, the Beloved Community is an attainable state where injustice ceases and love prevails. It is inclusive, diverse, equitable, and embodies antiracism. It affirms our interrelated and interconnected humanity, is rooted in the love of God, neighbor and self, and is impacted by and concerned about the well-being of the other.
