WHAT DOES THE IDEA CORPS STAND FOR?
The IDEA stands for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Antiracism. These practices define our holistic commitment to social transformation of the world and personal spiritual growth through creative, professional, and direct action in communities. IDEA Corps also illuminates the hope for God-given ideas and visions that interns may have to create spaces of belonging and building the beloved community.
The IDEA Corps Internship is based on Micah 6:8: "Do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with God."

The internship is open to students ages 18-23 who are enrolled and attending college, university or technical school and:
WHEN DOES THE IDEA CORPS INTERNSHIP TAKE PLACE?
The IDEA Corps Internship is an eight-week, summer paid internship from Monday, June 6 - Friday, July 28, 2023.
WHAT DO IDEA CORPS INTERNS DO?
The internship includes going in-depth with a work placement in an organization that both matches the applicant's interests and is ready to mentor and teach the applicant new skills. This holistic program engages students intellectually, practically, spiritually, emotionally, and theologically with justice.
IDEA Corps Interns are placed in organizations Monday through Friday from approximately 10:00 am - 4:00 pm EST.
Mondays from 10 am - 1 pm EST will be spent online in group reflection, seminars and immersion experiences with other interns. Group programming may include creation care, gender justice, economic equity, civil and human rights, peace-building, and training for public advocacy and action.
Finally, each week IDEA Corps Interns will write short blogs that express what they have learned through their work.
IS THIS A PAID INTERNSHIP?
Yes. Each IDEA Corps Intern receives a $2,500 stipend for their participation in this eight-week program. It is expected that IDEA Corps Interns will be present for the entire eight weeks of the program. If you have existing travel plans during this time, please contact staff to determine if these plans preclude your participation in the IDEA Corps.
WHERE ARE PLACEMENTS LOCATED?
Upon receipt of a successful application, we will work with potential interns and placement sites to find a match geographically and by interest. We may also be able to structure some internships that allow for some telecommuting.
Because this is a non-residential Internship, IDEA Corps Interns must be able to provide transportation to their worksites Monday to Friday each week.

- Strengthen their leadership and professional skills
- Connect with Baltimore-Washington and Peninsula-Delaware Conference United Methodists lay and clergy advocates
- Have the space and support to develop projects of their own after the internship if they choose
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

- Demonstrates leadership and passion in the church, community and involvement in social justice activities.
